Fertility Africa Meeting 2020

Fertility Africa 2020 POSTPONED to March 2021 in view of COVID-19 pandemic
We are communicating with speakers and registered delegates directly and will post more information to this website soon.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all delegates attending this inaugural fertility meeting hosted jointly by SASREG1, ANARA2 and AFFS3.

This landmark congress will bring together delegates from all corners of the African continent and will meet the interests of Medical Specialists, Embryologists, Fertility Nursing Sisters and Fertility Counsellors alike. In addition to the main congress, workshops on Data and Quality Control in the ART laboratory, Hysteroscopy, Laparoscopic Suturing and Fertility Nursing will add practical relevance to the meeting.

We are facing unique challenges and opportunities in Africa. FAM 2020 will allow us to network, share knowledge, set goals, and develop beneficial relationships for the future. Data presented from ANARA will invite us to critically evaluate our current ART practices on the continent. Debates and panel discussions on legislation in Africa, training in Africa, accreditation of IVF units and safety issues in IVF pregnancies will enrich us all.

Africa needs strong reproductive networks with a powerful voice to facilitate the development of ART practice and research. ANARA is our Africa-wide network of ART centres. The current African Fertility Society will now evolve as a network of societies: the African Federation of Fertility Societies (AFFS); and every fertility society in Africa is invited to participate in the new organisational structure. The first AFFS General Assembly will be held at this meeting and we urge everyone to attend. Do not miss this historic milestone of our AFFS and the celebratory dinners that follow.

The conference will be held at the brand new UCT Graduate School of Business Conference Centre with the Protea Breakwater Lodge hotel on-site. Waterfront shopping, restaurants and other entertainment are only a few steps away under the shadow of the majestic Table Mountain.

We trust that you will enjoy the congress and look forward to welcoming you in Cape Town.
